What is the verbal memory test?
This test measures your verbal recognition memory — how many words you can keep track of as the list grows. Each word is either brand new or one you've already been shown. You press SEEN or NEW; every correct call scores a point, every wrong call costs a life. As the pool of seen words expands, holding them all in mind gets harder.
What is a good score?
The average score is roughly 40 to 50. Breaking 70 is strong, and scores above 100 require deliberate memory strategies.
Score distribution
Most players land between 30 and 60; a long tail reaches into the hundreds. Your personal best is kept in your browser only — nothing is uploaded.
How to improve
- When in doubt on a short streak, lean toward NEW early and SEEN later as the pool fills.
- Form a quick mental image or association for each new word.
- Keep a steady rhythm — hesitation rarely improves accuracy.
FAQ
How many lives do I have?
Three. A wrong SEEN/NEW call costs one life; at zero the game ends.
Do repeated words keep coming back?
Yes — once a word has appeared it can reappear at any time, which is what makes later rounds hard.
